The Maloja Pass is mostly easy to drive on. The road is well constructed, has moderate gradients and wide Curves as well as a continuous central reservation. An exception is the last section from Chiavenna, about 2.1 kilometers before the Pass summit. In this section there is no central reservation and there are several 180° Hairpins as well as challenging bend combinations with a steeper gradient.
