Route details

The legendary Costiera Amalfitana is calling - experience 149 kilometers of pure curvy bliss between the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno, where the Tyrrhenian Sea meets steep cliffs and every Curve reveals a new postcard motif.

This spectacular motorcycle tour takes you through the heart of Campania and combines two of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Italy in one unforgettable tour. From the starting point in Salerno, you first follow the northern coastline towards Castellammare di Stabia, where ancient Roman villas and the imposing Monte Faito with its cable car invite you to make a short stop.

The highlight awaits you on the Sorrento Peninsula: via Sorrento with its elegant old town and famous lemon gardens, you continue to Massa Lubrense at the very tip of the peninsula. Here, at the Punta Campanella marine reserve, the island of Capri is within your grasp. The narrow roads wind their way through picturesque villages such as Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, which takes its name from the fact that it lies between two gulfs.

The Valico di Chiunzi at 656 meters above sea level offers you a breathtaking viewpoint over the Monti Lattari with views of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples - an absolute must for any photographer. The Pass road itself is a dream for curve lovers: narrow Switchbacks, some of which are carved into the rock, require full concentration and reward you with pure driving pleasure.

The legendary SS163, also known as the "divine coastal road" and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, winds its way along steep cliffs for 40 kilometers. The road is so narrow in places that cars can only pass each other by a hair's breadth - you have a decisive advantage here on a motorcycle. Bold viaducts, narrow Hairpins and gigantic views of the turquoise-blue Tyrrhenian Sea will make your biker's heart beat faster.

Passing the pastel-colored cube houses of Positano and historic Amalfi with its magnificent cathedral in Arab-Norman style, you finally reach Vietri sul Mare, the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. The town is known for its colorful ceramics and offers the perfect end to this Tourer. The road surface is mostly good, although you should be careful of the white road markings on Curves - they can become slippery in Wet conditions. The best time to travel is early summer or fall, as the traffic and heat can detract from the enjoyment in high summer.
