A mixture of overland roads and narrow Mountain roads without a central reservation.
Start in Lütisburg. From Lütisburg, the route leads through the Neckertal valley on Main roads with long curves via Hoffeld to Sankt Peterzell - with a central reservation throughout. Shortly after Lütisburg, the 170-year-old Letzi bridge still stands right next to the Main road. From Hoffelden to St. Peterszell over the Hemberg to Nesslau, the road becomes very winding and without a central reservation. Over the Hemberg you have an amazing view of the Säntis! The road surface on this section is old and has bitumen patches, but is generally in good condition. Watch out for the bitumen patches, as they can become sticky in very hot summer temperatures. From Nesslau over the Säntis Pass to Waldstatt, the roads are wonderfully wide and have new surfaces. From Rotschwendi (Schwellbrunn) to Degersheim, the roads are again much narrower and without a central reservation. From Degersheim, the route passes Magdenau Monastery, which is well worth a visit - interesting guided tours of short duration are offered for those interested in history - and the well-known Klosterhof Rössli Restaurant. A refreshment stop is recommended. From there, the route leads back to Lütisburg via the Winzenberg on winding roads without a central reservation. The views on this section are magnificent. The many smaller and larger villages and communities in the hilly landscape are a beautiful sight for a Unterländer - many old timber-framed houses have been preserved in their original form.
