Round trip on the Säntis with 5 Mountain passes in Eastern Switzerland

The Tourer starts in Buchs SG. Follow the wide Main road number 13 to Altstätten SG. From there, the winding road leads up to the Ruppen Pass. The Mountain pass descent on the Appenzell side is without a continuous central reservation, but the road is wide and the curves are pleasant to ride. The route continues via Trogen with wide roads but no central reservation as far as Bühler. The route then continues via Gais over the Stosspass, also with wide roads and nice curves. Back in Altstätten, the Tourer takes the Eichbergstrasse over the Eggerstanden Pass - a winding and rather narrow road without a central reservation leads to the Pass summit - to Appenzell.
From Appenzell via Urnäsch over the Säntis Pass to Nesslau, the wonderfully wide and newly surfaced roads wind their way over the Pass summit. From Nesslau, take Main road no. 16 back to Buchs SG.
