4 Mountain passes in northwestern Switzerland with patched asphalt, tight hairpin bends and gravel road sections
It is a challenging Tour with long main road bends, tight hairpin bends with old and patched asphalt and Gravel roads through the forest.
The start is in Siggenthal in the canton of Aargau.
The Tourer is a constant uphill and downhill ride, sometimes with and sometimes without a central reservation. Very good driving skills are an advantage.
Attention: This Tourer is not recommended for road and racing bikes.
From Viligen, the route follows winding country roads along the eastern Jura chain towards Bözen and Zeihen in Fricktal - sometimes on old pavement without a central reservation. The Tour continues along the Jura Chain through many different smaller and larger valleys, all of which are very beautiful. From Oberzeihen via Kilhoz to Thalheim, the road is partly asphalt-free and leads over wide and good Gravel roads. This section is not exactly suitable for road/racing bikes, but is definitely doable.
From Thalheim it goes on the wide main road - without a central reservation - over the Staffelegg and from Densbüren the Tourer goes sometimes on Main roads, sometimes on winding Pass roads, sometimes on new and sometimes on (partly very) old pavement up and down with many curves over Wittnau to Eptingen (known because of the mineral water :) In Eptingen, it's back up the Pass road to the Chilchzimmersattelpass without a central reservation: tight curves and old road surface, steep roads with various bitumen patches. An awesome section. And the next mini pass follows immediately at Langenbruck with equally adventurous roads.
