5 Mountain passes in the Swiss Jura

Route details

A very challenging Tour over the 5 Jura passes Passwangpass, Scheltenpass, Pâturage Derrière, Weissensteinpass and Balmgergpass.

The Tourer through the Jura begins at the Petrol station with store in Zwingen. The route leads via Breitenbach and Erschwil on the main road to the summit of the Passwang Pass, a pleasant pass road with great views of the surrounding landscape. Immediately afterwards, the Schelten Pass awaits riders, a narrow road with no central reservation and an old surface in places.

After driving through Curchapoix, the Noah's Ark Museum is a worthwhile stop before the ascent to Vicques. Here, visitors can marvel at a fascinating collection of over 3000 stuffed animals. The route continues to the Pâturage Derrière, a small north-south crossing between the cantons of Jura and Bern, which features tight curves and narrow roads with no central reservation and a good surface.

From Crémines, the route follows the Main road to Gänsbrunnen before reaching the next Pass road. The Weissenstein Pass rises up as one of the best-known and most popular Mountain passes in the region and attracts motorcycle enthusiasts from near and far with its spectacular route.

In Laupersdorf, the route heads east to the parallel Balmberg Pass, which is a real challenge with its narrow roads and tight curves. Especially on the north side, the Pass road can provide adrenaline rushes with gradients of up to 25%.

From Welschenrohr, the leisurely ride continues along the Main road to Balsthal, where the ruins of Neu-Falkenstein Castle catch the eye. This historic attraction invites you to take a short tour before heading back up the Pass road to Passwang, this time from the other side. A Stopover at the Alpenblick Passwang not only offers a relaxing break, but also an unforgettable view of the mountain landscape.

Finally, the route leads back to Zwingen on the same road as at the beginning, with the ride through the picturesque landscapes of the Jura once again revealing the beauty of this region and creating unforgettable memories of a varied and challenging motorcycle tour.
